Lahore’s traffic is ruthless and rude, and with the ever growing population, the number of vehicles are increasing and the situation is getting even worse.
Sadly in the past, we haven’t seen any remarkable development from the govt side to resolve this ever mounting issue but thankfully, a new decision has been made by the authorities to overcome the issue and a new modern auto loop traffic signal system incorporated by e-challan to be followed in upcoming days.
Lahore City Traffic Police has decided to install latest Auto Loop System Signals across the city to make the flow of traffic smooth. Initially, 9 places of the city has been decided that will experience the latest loop system and development has begun in this regard.
Govt is also planning to connect the signals with the solar panels to make sure the continuous operations of signals. To monitor the density of the traffic, govt plans to build a software with Adaptive Signaling application. Most of the signals placed in Lahore have the capability of integrating the application and they can be used for Adaptive Signaling.
Chief Traffic Officer (CTO) Tayyab Hafeez Cheema told Chief Minister’s special advisor Salman Soofi while briefing that installation of Auto Loop Signals at Mall Road, Molana Shaukat Ali Road, Multan Road, Ferozepur Road, Jail Road and on Canal Road will begin in next three days and these signal will be adjusted with 4 seconds automatic time interval loop.
If the traffic from any of the one side would not derive in 4 seconds, then the loop will be iterated and next signal will be opened. He further told that the new system will begin within 15 days across the whole city and over the course of next two months, new E-challan system will be practiced. Several IT experts were also present during the briefing.
And there’s more good news, just like Islamabadites, Lahorities will soon observe the initiation of strict laws regarding traffic that will include seatbelt, helmet, lane and signal break offenses. Moreover to educate people about the following of new rules, 500 new sign boards will be affixed at different positions of the city so that no one can remain unaware in this matter.
In the past, PITB initiated an Android based challan system through which a warden from Traffic Police can issue a fine ticket on the spot with his Android phone on any traffic violation.
