Samsung’s Galaxy S6 will be unveiled in the run-up the Mobile World Congress next month, and as per a very recent report, the device could hit retail chains on March 22nd. With the apparent release drawing ever closer, Samsung is looking to crank up the hype machine, and in the first of what will surely be many promotional steps to ensure every consumer knows that the S6 is incoming, we have our very first teaser of the handset.
The snippet takes the form of a very short clip, featuring a little commentary, some flashes of light, and not a lot else. Notably, the 17-second short ends with the words “I am #TheNextGalaxy” alongside what appears to be the outline of a rear-facing camera, which indicates that Sammy will be delivering the goods when it comes to that point-and-shoot experience.
This isn’t to say that the main snapper of the preceding Galaxy S5 is to be baulked at though; quite the opposite. In fact, at the time, both the display and camera of the Galaxy S5 – the latter of which is capable of shooting in 4K resolution – were lauded as the best in the business, and since then, the iPhone 6 is arguably its only major peer.
Still, this ad leaves us eager to see how much the camera has improved, and as per reports, there’ll be a number of big changes both under the hood and aesthetically. Most of the high-end Android Class of ’15 will be treated to a 64-bit processor, including the Galaxy S6, and with the exterior set to be comprised of metal akin to the iPhone and HTC’s One series, those conscious of build quality will finally have reason to check out a range that has consistently delivered plastic and disappointment.
Samsung’s confirmed Unpacked event will commence on March 1st, right before this year’s Mobile World Congress, and after a torrid 2014, it’ll have to make more of an impression than it did at last year’s launch. The showcasing of the Galaxy S5 in Barcelona was a tad anti-climactic last time around, and despite those aforementioned improvements to camera and display, the initial reaction was that Samsung had lazily rehashed the GS4.
Still, the campaign trail has officially begun, and given the extravagance of Samsung’s marketing ventures in the past, it’ll be interesting to see how the company sells its latest and greatest product to the masses.
