In order to make M-governance better in the province and amid increasing terror threats, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KPK) Police has decided to launch a mobile application which will notify the police of any potential emergency situation in schools in the province mainly in Peshawar.
This will be an Android based application and Android smartphones will be handed over to the respective officials. Citizens or officials, having Android smartphones can alert a nearby police station or checkpost by just one click using the app. According to reports, at least 10 police stations will be alerted through app including central police office.
Not only it will alert the local police but it will also guide the police to spot the threat location through a special tracking system. According to Dawn, the service will gradually be expanded over all schools and educational campuses across the province.
The decision of making such kind of alert app has been taken after the brutal incident of APS School in Peshawar.
The new trend of utilising M-Governance through mobile applications is found to be on song these days. We have seen Punjab Govt has also initiated many services through mobile apps such as dengue surveillance system and recently the launch of Asani Markaz Android app which will guide the citizens of the location of facilitation centers and all the prerequisite of the services via app. Not to mention, Punjab Facilitation Centers are being launched to provide several governmental services under one roof.
