In ever evolving tech world, sometimes it becomes difficult to stay up to date with latest nags and terms. Though many of us are aware of commonly used social media new words such as selfie, emoji, hashtag etc. but still many of us hardly know about the terms that are becoming mainstream in the intensifying world of technology. It is also lucrative to recognize some of these terms as it can be helpful in a job interview or in a discussion. The Internet of Things: The Internet of Things aka IoT is the concept that relates idea of connecting various home appliances such as doors, refrigerators, air conditioners through a main server and make an embedded connection that allows to share data within these appliances. Extended theory of IoT suggests to make connection between all living and nonliving things so that a normal person don’t have to be log in to computer to transfer data and to get connected. To handle this large amount of data, terms like high-speed internet, industrial internet and big data are emerging so that one can maneuver things accordingly. Big Data: Internet users are increasing with every single moment so is the amount of content on the internet. On the parallel, the amount of data on the PCs and smartphones is also multiplying many fold and are the bytes of data on each server. Considering the amount of data that is beyond imagination of a common man, old fashioned data management replaces with big data analytics that includes the data management related to business transactions, content that is being created on social media, data extracted from scientific computational research, surveillance and so on. LTE: LTE is called long term evolution commonly marketed as 4G LTE, is a standard for wireless communication of high-speed data for mobile phones and data terminals, since 3G and 4G are going ubiquitous all over the world, we need to understand the related terms. G is for generation. The goal of LTE was to increase the capacity and speed of wireless data networks. Augmented Reality: It is the virtually designed computational world in which a live direct or indirect view of a physical, real-world environment’s elements are augmented by computer-generated sensory input such as sound, video, graphics or GPS data. You can call it a cyber-physical system which enhances the real world scene through superimposed graphics. One example of it that retailers are currently experimenting with augmented reality to get more customers into the stores by allowing shoppers to see the clothes on them without having to actually try them on. Selfie: And last but not the least the word selfie which had been added in the Oxford dictionary last year. 2014 has been remained a selfie year and the craze of selfies didn’t only overshadow the people but also the mainstream celebrities. Many smartphone companies in the start of 2014, referred the year 2014 to be a selfie year and focused on releasing the handsets with accordingly powerful front cameras which turned out to be a productive marketing slogan. Facebook and Instagram remained on top in selfie sharing.
