The Moto E 2nd generation has been revealed and will be arriving with 4G compatibility and Android 5.0 Lollipop. The successor to Motorola's budget Android smartphone from 2014, the Moto E (2015), or Moto E 4G if you prefer, is listed as "coming soon" on the Best Buy website.

The Moto E 2nd Generation price is set at 99 USD off-contract, which is currently 20-30 bucks cheaper than the 2014 edition as listed on Best Buy.

Moto E (2015) release date

The Best Buy listing shows the Moto E 4G edition as "coming soon". The original Moto E arrived on May 13th, 2014 but I doubt we will have to wait another 3 months until May to see this second generation. There is no way it would appear on the Best Buy site this far ahead of a release.

LG launches largest ever Curved TV in UK, with awe-inspiring 105″ Curved ULTRA HD LG 105UC9 at £60,000
LONDON: LG Electronics (LG) launched its largest ever Curved TV in the UK, with the awe-inspiring 105″ Curved ULTRA HD LG 105UC9 now available to buy exclusively from Harrods Technology department for £60,000. Delivering a monumental curved screen size and spectacular picture quality, the 105UC9 is LG’s first 21:9 aspect ratio Curved ULTRA HD TV, offering a wide viewing angle and the ability to deliver the minutest detail in breathtaking clarity.
The 105UC9’s cinematically proportioned 21:9 CineVu screen displays movies as they were made to be seen, ensuring a truly immersive viewing experience at home. To match this incredible IPS 5K display, the 105UC9 also delivers outstanding audio via its built-in 7.2 channel, 150W sound system. Incorporating LG’s ULTRA Surround concept and developed in partnership with premium audio products manufacturer Harman Kardon, the speaker array produces a powerful and rich audio experience. The multi-channel system complements the CineVu screen with a sonic performance worthy of an actual movie theatre.
Boasting a 5K screen resolution, the 105UC9 represents a triumph of display technology. In order to overcome the challenge of uneven backlighting in a curved screen, the Thin Film Transistor (TFT) pixel circuit technology was refined, preventing colour leakage and ensuring a superior viewing experience from virtually any angle. The 105UC9 also incorporates LG’s web OS Smart+ TV system, which brings together all fans favourite catch-up TV, movies, sport and music services into one user friendly menu that is both simple to connect and simple to explore.
“LG is known for its innovative and market leading technologies,” said Andrew Mackay, LG Commercial Director – Consumer Electronics (UK & Ireland), “and we’re proud to bring our largest ever Curved television to the UK, to be sold exclusively in Harrods. With a resolution of 11 million pixels, the 105-inch Curved Ultra HD panel is proof of our continued leadership in the next generation display market, offering exceptional world-class value to our customers.”
Stewart Mancey, Head of Technology at Harrods said: “We are delighted to welcome the LG 105″ Curved ULTRA HD TV exclusively to Harrods Technology, as the department continues to drive first-to-market technology and innovation from some of the world’s biggest brands.”

LG Ice Cream Smart: A Flip Phone with Smart Guts

Wednesday, 28 January 2015

When was the last time you saw a smartphone with a flip cover? You know, like the Motorola Razr from almost a decade ago? Flip phones were all the rage once upon a time. And now LG is bringing them back to the masses.
Enter LG’s Ice Cream Smart, a clam-shell phone with some ‘smarts’ thrown in. It’s a smartphone that is equal parts modern and equal parts retro. The phone comes with a touch screen display AND a physical keypad. If you miss the feeling of composing those SMSes on a bunch of physical buttons, then the LG Ice Cream Smart is the phone to get.

If you loved flip phones, chances are LG’s Ice Cream Smart will be right up your alley

Barring the confused name of this phone, LG has made this phone for people who miss the open-and-shut feeling that old clamshell phones had. The phone makes a recognizable ‘fwap’ sound as you close the flip cover on the phone, serving as a reminder of how flip phones were popular once upon a time. The aesthetics and the way a flip phone handles makes a good case for those who want nostalgia to
LG will be bringing this phone in a variety of colors. LG calls their color choices as the “ever popular emotional pastel-tone colors.” So expect soft and subdued colors on these phones. This is a far cry from the flashy bright colors seen in the Microsoft Lumia series of smartphones.

The LG Ice Cream Smart comes with a physical keyboard and a touch screen

Currently, its slated to be released in Korean markets only. However, as we’ve seen with the Samsung Galaxy S series, it’s only a matter of time before Korean variants of this phone model will make its way to Pakistani shores.
So what do you think? Is there a market for smart flip phones or will they prove to be a short term gimmick? Should other manufacturers follow suit and bring out flip phones to the masses? It sure would be intriguing to see HTC making its own by customizing the industrial design it uses for the HTC One.

LG Bypasses Android – New Smartwatch Runs on WebOS

Friday, 9 January 2015

LG presented an absolutely gorgeous looking smartwatch today at CES2015. Audi is partnering with LG and this watch can lock and unlock your car automatically. But that’s the not the most significant feature of this watch… it’s not running on Android.
Android Wear is the version of the Android OS exclusively designed wearable devices. This watch was expected to be running Android Wear but LG and Audi surprised everyone by embedding WebOS in it. This is the operating system that was limited to LG’s smart-TV sets until now.
This watch contains a classy vintage look thanks to its circular shape, patterned leather strap and machined crown. This design clearly indicates that it is basically an Audi watch that is using an LG operating system. LG’s own smartwatch series G Watch R looks much modern compared to this watch
The UI is tailor-made to look good on round screens. WebOS has cellular connectivity, which means that you can make phone calls with this watch. Messaging functionality is also there in WebOS, probably this is the reason LG and Audi decided to go with WebOS instead of Android Wear.
It evident that if this watch gains attention in the market, Android will also add cellular connectivity features in Android Wear. Then, we may soon be heading to an age where mobile phones will cease to exist. Only smartwatches will rule the world.
