Over the course of the last few weeks, numerous rumors regarding prototypes and the final version of the Galaxy S6 have been circulating: now our own source has confirmed that the final version of the Galaxy S6 will indeed have a metal unibody.
We earlier learned from our exclusive source that two version of the Galaxy S6 were being considered, one with a metal unibody and the other with a plastic back cover like the Galaxy Note 4. Now, the same source has come back to us and says that the Galaxy S6 will be made of a metal unibody. The Galaxy S6 was being shown behind closed doors during the CES 2015, but only to select industry partners.
Our trusted source also went on to say that the Galaxy S6 Edge will be made with a plastic back cover and come with a removable battery. It seems that the second prototype being worked on had been the Galaxy S6 Edge the entire time.
The downside to a metal unibody of course is the non-removable battery, an aspect that could deter future consumers. That being said, the metal chassis, like the newly announced Galaxy SA series (Galaxy A7, A5 and A3) show that Samsung is heading in a brand new design direction. The Galaxy S6 specs will however greatly outdo those of the recent arrivals.
What do you think of this sudden change of events? Will Samsung’s new direction down this metal road lead to success or should they stick to the plastic flagship design?
