Google Classroom App For iOS, Android Released, Download It From Here

Wednesday, 14 January 2015

The education market serves as an attractive prospect to enterprising companies like Apple and Google, and the latter has just rolled out a new ‘Classroom’ app for iOS and Android. The mobile app does require a Google Apps for Education account, but provided you can meet this prerequisite, details and download links can be found below.
When it comes to education, it’s fair to say that none of the big names in the mobile market have exactly nailed it. It was once suggested that the education sector was one of a few areas that Steve Jobs had claimed to have “cracked” as he considered future avenues and products, although during the remainder of his life and in the years since his untimely passing, we’ve yet to see any solid evidence of this.

Google, however, has been a little more proactive, and with an impressive line of productivity apps that, for some, trumps iWork and Office, is heavily utilized by students and teachers alike. With a strong emphasis on collaboration, Google’s Docs has also catered to business users far and wide, and with Classroom, the Android maker is looking to expand to the school, college and university setting.

The idea of Classroom is to virtualize the traditional system. We already live in an era whereby many can self-teach using online resources, conferring remotely with teachers as the learning process develops, and Google is essentially trying to enrich this structure with its Classroom package.
The days of going to school to learn are far from over, but with Classroom and similar collaboration software now ubiquitous, it’s much easier for today’s students and teachers to get things done in a streamlined, fluid matter.

As you would expect, Classroom for iOS and Android is completely free on both platforms, although as aforementioned, you will be needing that Google Apps for Education account to begin with. Check out the screenies, download via the direct links below, and as ever, leave your thoughts and opinions in the comments section.
