Earn OnlineCan you earn online? Sure you can, many people do. Are there risks involved? Of course there are.
Working online is a dream of many of us. Working from home allows us to be truly free. No alarm clocks, no traffic jams, no need to look busy all the time.
We can get a break whenever we want and of course, we do get to spend more time with friends and family. There are lots of upsides to working online and making money while staying at the place we love the most, home.

A Proper Long-Distance Job

What used to be called a job in the 20th century, is now called in-house job, because just the word “job” does not convey the meaning. A job can be a home based job. There are many jobs that are home based. In fact, we, at MORE magazine, have a few regular writers and employees who work from their homes.
Permanent Job
Such jobs allow freedom to both parties. For us, the employers, the advantage is that we can get the best writers, they don’t have to be located in the same city… or even country. For writers, it gives them coming to office each day. We both win.
There are many permanent jobs such as these that work over long-distance. The most demanded jobs among them, but not limited to, are:
  • Writers
  • Accountants
  • Programmers
  • Designers
  • And experts from all walks in IT.
Things to Remember
It is unlikely to get a permanent online job when you are the beginning of your career. Only senior professionals are given the opportunity. Beginners have to start from either in-house jobs or freelancing.

Freelancing

Freelancing is slightly different from a permanent job. Freelancing is when you earn on a day-to-day basis, or should I say project-to-project basis.
What happens is that you create a portfolio, containing information about you and your work and display it on freelancing websites such as elance.com. When an employer needs your skills, he will hire you for the project.
There are hundreds of thousands of projects being posted each day on freelancing websites and hundreds of thousands of people are earning through them. You could be one of those people.
The best part about freelancing is that it allows yu to be truly free. You work when you want, and from wherever you want.
Freelancing
Things to Remember
Freelancing is not ideal for everyone. The most essential art required for earning via freelancing is the art of communication. If you are not great at communication, it doesn’t really matter how talented you are otherwise. You should not only be able to communicate yourself better, you would also need to understand clients, who are not always the brightest of people.
Freelancing is more suited for ambitious entrepreneur minds while regular jobs are ideal for people with keep-calm-and-carry-on attitude.

Blogging and Digital Journalism

Blogging has become an enormous industry these days. Many people have changed their fortunes and found fame thanks this phenomenon called blogging.
A blog is exactly like a magazine, the only difference is that this magazine doesn’t get printed in a press, rather it is published online.
And the good thing about blogging is that it doesn’t have to be written or text-based, as in print magazines. You can write, make an audio/visual blog, you can make comics and there are so many other possibilities.

Things to Remember
Blogging is an excellent mean of earning, it’s your own business and it could make you famous. It gives you the freedom to work the way you want.
Just like a rose has thorns, day has the night and life has death, there is a depressing side of blogging. Not everyone makes money here. According to a study, over 92% bloggers make less than $100 per month. Now that’s too little. So what’s the secret?
The secret is that there is no secret. You can only make money here if you really really love blogging and you have spare time. If you keep blogging for 3-4 years, your website will go up higher in Google rankings and avid social media users will also start to share your content because by then you would have gained credibility. Then, you will start to get lots of readers which will translate into lots of income.
The more audience you find, the more profit you make. It is as simple as that. But the truth is that you won’t find a huge number of audience easily. You will have to stay committed day after day, month after month and year after year. If you don’t love blogging and the subject you blog about, you will never be able to make money through it.

E-Commerce and Service Selling

The Internet has become the world’s largest marketplace. You can open your shop in this marketplace!
Let’s say you have a shop where you sell sports goods. You can continue with your shop, but you make an official website of your shop so that people can buy your products online. Many people want to do their shopping while sitting in their comfortable homes.
This E-Commerce formula applies not only to shops but nearly everything. If you are an author who has written a book, you can sell that book. If produce something, for instance, you have a bakery and you make cookies and cakes, you can sell them online.
You can even sell your services, for instance, many lawyers, doctors and teachers are providing their services online.

Things to Remember
There are mighty giants already dominating the cyberscape. These giants include Amazon and eBay and such other websites. Don’t try to compete with them. Instead, look to cater the audience they can’t. You’ll find your audience in niches and micro-niches.
For example, it is not a good idea to try to create an online shopping mall, but it good be a good idea to create an online store of sports goods. It would be an even better idea to create an online store just for gloves or golf clubs. When you choose a niche or micro-niche, it becomes your specialty.

Conclusion

Earning online requires many things, most of all, discipline. This is because when you are sitting in the comfortable environment of your home, you can get derailed.
It requires discipline because there’s nothing to stop you. If you start playing a video game, no one will stop you and you will lose precious time… and eventually you will lose the ‘real game’.
Another scenario is that your family members don’t treat you as if you are on your job. You are always holding kids, bringing groceries, doing day-to-day chores and all of the time gets wasted.

This is what happens to most the of the people who try to start a business from their homes, but later decide to go back to offices. If you are going to start working from home, make sure your friends and family are willing to give you time off.
