The victims targeted by the Equation group belong to following categories mostly.
• Governments and diplomatic institutions
• Telecommunication

• Energy
• Nuclear research
• Oil and gas

• Nanotechnology
• Islamic activists and scholars
• Mass media

Interestingly, the report by Kaspersky declares that the users of 3 countries are surely not on the hit list of the Equation group i.e. Jordan, Turkey and Egypt.
Although Kaspersky has not revealed the connection of The Equation Group with any country however, it has said that this spying campaign is closely connected to Stuxnet, which is computer worm made by NSA to attack uranium enrichment infrastructure of Iran and it is important to note that National Security Agency (NSA) is an intelligence agency of United States.
