Samsung plans to make the Galaxy S6 lightning fast

Wednesday, 18 February 2015

In the second teaser trailer for the Galaxy S6, Samsung's upcoming flagship expected to debut atMWC 2015, we're given some tantalizing hints that the S6 will be so fast that it will allow you to "give more time to others".

The video even shows some nice time-lapse photography, something that every smartphone owner would love to be able to capture successfully on their phone. Perhaps the Galaxy S6 camera will introduce this too?
All marketing aside though, how is Samsung actually planning to achieve all this speed and convenience? A mixture of three factors really: software, processor and bloatware.

1. Software: ''Ground Zero'' for TouchWiz

The ''Ground Zero'' project refers to a rumored reworking of Samsung's TouchWiz interface from the ground up, bringing it to almost stock Android-like speeds and doing away with a lot of the less useful software features. Whether this can be achieved or not we can't wait to find out, but in any case, a faster TouchWiz would be a real treat.

2. Processor: Exynos 7420

The likelihood that Samsung's own octa-core Exynos 7420 will be the driving force behind the Galaxy S6 seems beyond a doubt at this point. If this is true, we can expect lightning fast speeds and efficiency from Samsung's 14nm process chip (even faster than the 20nm Qualcomm Snapdragon 810 and up to 30-35 percent more power efficient, according to Samsung). The new teaser even shows a lightning bolt logo to hammer home the point.

3. Bloatware: removable or just plain gone

This is the ultimate Samsung unicorn. Everyone wants it to be true but no one is really willing to admit they truly believe in it. The rumors have flown like crazy recently that Samsung will remove all bloatware from the pared-down TouchWiz on the Galaxy S6 or at the very least make it removable. Giving owners the opportunity to choose what apps go on their phone is a big deal and it has certainly been well received on recent Motorola and HTC devices.

These three factors are the key ingredients in Samsung's lightning fast recipe for the Galaxy S6. We're sincerely hoping all three turn out to be as impressive as we want them to be, and we all know Samsung could really use a win right about now.
How fast do you think the Galaxy S6 will be?
