Apple TV Adds New Live Tennis Channel

Saturday, 17 January 2015

Following hot on the heels of the addition of the Cricket Australia channel, the Cupertino giant has taken the opportunity to provide a refresh for United States based consumers using its Apple TV set-top box.
Users down under benefited earlier this week from the inclusion of the official Cricket Australiachannel, effectively offering round the clock access to the nation’s most beloved national sport. In a similar move, the latest refresh for American consumers now includes constantly evolving content direct from the Tennis Channel Everywhere service, a perfect inclusion for those who love nothing more than relaxing in front of the famous racket sport.

As you might expect from a streaming channel of this nature the Tennis Channel Everywhere service volleys up a fantastic mic of on-demand tennis content as well as the ability to view live tennis matches from some of the most exciting and famous tournaments around the world. Tennis fans also have the optional choice of committing to receive even more sporting content by signing up to the Tennis Channel Everywhere’s optional subscription service, Tennis Channel Plus. For the princely sum of $69.99 per year users can unlock access to watch some of the world’s most impressive sports men and women compete on the big stage.
Subscribing to Tennis Channel Plus will provide full coverage of the Australian Open tournament starting next week where Roger Federer will be competing in his 16th Australian Open. Following on from the Australian Open is the 2015 French Open, which will be fully accessible to subscribing Apple TV users in June when the tournament begins. As an added bonus, any subscription to the Tennis Channel Plus service will also ensure that the content is available through the Tennis Channel’s native iPhone and iPad app as well as directly through the official website.

The inclusion of the Tennis Channel Everywhere further bolsters the range of sporting channels available directly through Apple’s "hobby" streaming box. Existing services such as WatchESPN, WWE Network, ACC Sports, NFL Now and Red Bull TV have been delivering the latest and greatest from various sporting disciplines for quite some time so it makes perfect sense for a tennis service to get in on the action and utilize Apple’s infrastructure.
Tennis Channel Everywhere should start appearing as an over-the-air update with no manual software update required.
