The iOS and Mac App Stores aren’t new to offering paid apps for free, but these deals are always special when caught on a weekend. Well, that time of the week is here, and as always, we are bringing you some of the best paid Mac and iOS apps that have gone free for a limited period. Read on right after the jump to catch a rundown of these apps.
iOS

A really handy app available for iOS, especially if you happen to text a lot or love to keep in touch with friends via IM or email. Symbols gives you access to over 2,000 special characters that might be unavailable on the iOS keyboard.
Anchor Pointer ($1.99 – FREE / iPhone)
Another useful app which helps you easily locate places you’ve been to, even if that means locating your car. With Anchor Pointer you save the location you’re at using the device’s GPS, and when needed, the app will act as a compass guiding you back to your saved location. Now the ap’ps title makes perfect sense, no?
Translate Keyboard Pro ($1.99 – FREE / iPhone and iPad)
This third-party keyboard for iOS 8 allows users to communicate with friends and other contacts in their own language, where the keyboard translates all outgoing messages from your end into the target language. According to the app’s description, the keyboard supports "both forward translation and reverse translation within keyboard."
Mac
myTuner News Pro ($4.99 – FREE / Mac)

batchGIF ($4.99 – FREE / Mac)
This brilliant tool has one simple purpose; that is to batch select all your pictures picked, or in a folder, and convert those into one giant GIF animation. The appeal of this app lays in its ability to maintain the high resolution of all included pictures when transformed into a GIF.
Finely Tuned ($2.99 – FREE / Mac)
This player is compatible with not just iTunes, but works with Spotify or Rdio, integrating with the system menu bar as well on your Mac. Plenty of features to check out here, like the ability to synchronize iTunes volume with the system volume.
All of the above listed apps are available directly to download from the App Store and Mac App Store.
