New leaks suggest that HTC is abandoning its plans to produce the HTC One (M9), the follow-up to the hugely successful HTC One (M8). Famous leakster UpLeaks shared details about the previously unheard of HTC Hima which looks to be a high end device featuring a Snapdragon 810 processor. Update: HTC Hima looks like it will make an appearance just before MWC at an HTC event on March 1st. Check out this at the update section, and see our new HTC Hima rumor roundup video below too.
HTC Hima release date
Update: ''Utopia in Progress'' is the mysterious title for an HTC event to be held March 1st, just before MWC 2015 kicks off. There's not much more to go on, other than the tag line ''join us to see what's next'' which could mean almost anything, but we're pegging this one as the HTC One (M9) or the HTC Hima (though we think these are one and the same now).
According to UpLeaks, the HTC Hima will be released in March 2015. This would coincide with the 2015 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona; providing an ideal platform to present the phone. However, HTC may hold a independent release, like those held for the HTC One (M7) and HTC One (M8). According to UpLeaks, the HTC Hima would likely be available from major carriers in the US soon after.
HTC Hima news
The name HTC M9 is what most people thought the successor to the HTC M8 would be called, but it looks like HTC might be on a different path and is using the codename Hima for its next feature phone. It had previously been mentioned by Upleaks that the Hima is not the M9 and now it seems that the latter might not even be created at all (our trusted source said that he was 99% sure of this). He also mentioned the possibility that the HTC Hima will be called the HTC Hima Ace: this was already previously reported on however, so no new news, though this affirmation of the rumor does add some weight to its validity. Our source also said that the HTC Hima would be shown off at the Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
A document previously shared by Upleaks suggested that HTC will be rolling out different versions of the Hima around the globe. The product details suggest all major American phone carriers will offer a version of the Hima. There’s also a suggestion that HTC will develop a Windows-compatible version of the phone.
HTC Hima price
There are no solid details about the price of the HTC Hima. However, it would likely be in the same range as the HTC One (M8), HTC's previous flagship. That phone sold for 528 GBP and 650 USD. A budget-friendly version, the HTC Hima Ace, will be available in China, said UpLeaks.

HTC Hima specs
Upleaks simply posted a series of tech specs which both confirm and negate what we had heard up until now about the HTC HIMA. For one, the screen is now an alleged 5-inch Full HD display, as opposed to the 5.2-inches previously reported. However the tweet confirms earlier rumors about a Qualcomm Snapdragon 810, now with information about the clockspeed, namely a 2.0GHz quad-core and a 1.5GHz quad-core. All of this supported by 3 GB of RAM, also a new info. The dimensions are also the first we hear too, stating that the HTC Hima will be 144.3 x 69.4 x 9.56 mm. The device would then purportedly be slightly bigger than the Galaxy S5 in height and width, albeit a little thicker, just to get a rough idea at what we are looking at here.
Previous leaked pictures – published by French blog NowhereElse – show a gloved hand holding the alleged 5.2 inch front glass of an HTC phone. If the pictures are authentic, they challenge the earlier rumors that the HTC Hima will have a five inch screen, which contradicts the latest Upleaks tweet mentioned above.
UpLeaks had already previously reported abot the HTC Hima, which has the makings of an impressive phone: the stand outs first talked about were the Snapdragon 810 processor and the 20.7 megapixel rear camera. The battery is a little disappointing, at 2,840 mAh.
HTC Hima:S810 2.0GHz*4+1.5GHz*4, 3GB RAM, 5" FHD, VoLTE/CA/LTE Cat.6, 20.7MP(front 13MP or UltraPixel 4MP), 2840mAh, Android 5.0/Sense 7.0:)

The HTC Hima would offer standard connectivity options (VoLTE, CA, LTE Cat. 6) and continue the phablet trend with a 5-inch display at 1080p. According to UpLeaks, the HTC Hima Ace would come with a dual SIM reader.
HTC Hima features
As would be expected, the HTC Hima is said to run Android 5.0 Lollipop alongside Sense 7.0 user interface.
HTC One (M9) vs. HTC Hima
Last week, AndroidPIT reported the supposed leaked specs for the HTC One (M9).
"Alongside the 5.5-inch 2K screen, the M9 will be equipped with Snapdragon 805 processor, 3 GB of RAM, and 64 GB and 128 GB internal memory options... the HTC One (M9) will come with a 16 MP camera with OIS... To round off the specs, the M9 will reportedly come with a 3500 mAh, and will, naturally, run Android 5.0 Lollipop."
What do you think about the rumored HTC Hima Ace and HTC Hima Ultra? Should these leaks be taken seriously?
