Companies have had a crazy range of products to showcase at this year’s Consumer Electronics Show (CES). However, there weren’t many announcements of flagship smartphones with that hefty $699 mark. One can only imagine that they’ve been saved for the upcoming Mobile World Congress. That doesn’t mean CES 2015 fell short on exciting new smartphone announcements; it’s quite the contrary. Here’s a list of top 5 smartphones from the event.
ASUS ZenFone 2
Hot off the heels of the original ASUS ZenFone, ASUS has now announced the successor. As the first smartphone to sport 4GB of RAM as part of one of the two variants, this one’s set to compete with your high profile notebook. It’s also the second announcement sporting Z3580, a 64-bit Intel Atom chipset. Expect it to run Android 5.0 without a hitch. A 13-megapixel snapper is well complemented by a 5-megapixel front-facing camera. Moreover, a sizeable 3,000mAh battery will keep it running for a while.
ASUS ZenFone Zoom
You don’t necessarily need a name like Kodak attached to your smartphone for it to function like a proper camera. The latest offering by ASUS brings a 13-megapixel camera with 10-element sensor lens that is capable of 3x optical zoom. Optical image stabilization and laser autofocus are other amentities offered. The best part is that it remains true to this formula without adding much bulk. It comes with a 5.5-inch FullHD display and a 64-bit Intel Atom chipset that runs Android 5.0.
LG G Flex 2
Speaking of successors, the curved family of LG G Flex smartphones has found one. The LG G Flex 2 builds on the last year’s original in most departments. The usual features we expect these days are there with a FullHD display sporting 403ppi, a zippy Snapdragon 820 chipset, 13-megapixel camera and Android 5.0. What makes it extra special is the Self healing feature that allows the phone to brush off normal wear and tear on its own. One could argue that this is the most innovative and powerful smartphone offered at this CES.
Saygus V2
Also known as Saygus V squared, this smartphone pushes the limits of storage capacity with 320GB of storage. This is attributed to the dual microSD card slots, each supporting upto 128GB each and the internal strorage of 64GB. The dual boot feature allows users to boot it up in Android and Windows. Besides the 5-inch FullHD display, it offers 3GB of RAM, 64-bit Snapdragon 801 chipset and 21-megapixel snapper along with 13-megapixel front-facing shooter.
Lenovo P90
P90 also enjoys its status as one carrying the 64-bit Intel Atom chipset within its system. Clearly, the hallmark of this new device will be the whopping 4,000mAh battery that promises two to three days without a charge. The usual amenities follow with 2GB of RAM, 5.5-inch FullHD display, 13-megapixel camera and 32GB of storage. There is even support for LTE advanced to offer lightning network speeds when they do become available.
